Recover the passwords stored by Ubuntu

Your wireless network passwords and some software passwords are stored in the keychain in Ubuntu. It is very easy to show these passwords at need.

To continue, you have to know your what is your ubuntu version.

Ubuntu 11.04 and later

  1. Click on the Ubuntu menu in the top left corner.
  2. Type the word password and click on Passwords and Encryption Keys.
  3. Click on Password : login, the list of stored passwords is shown.
  4. Double-click on the password you want to show.
  5. Click on Password.
  6. Check Show password.

            

Ubuntu 10.10

  1. Click on the System / Preferences / Passwords and Encryption Keys menu.
  2. Click on Password : login, the list of stored passwords is shown.
  3. Double-click on the password you want to show.
  4. Click on Password.
  5. Check Show password.

            

Ubuntu 10.04

  1. Click on the Applications / Accessories / Passwords and Encryption Keys menu.
  2. Click on Password : login, the list of stored passwords is shown.
  3. Double-click on the password you want to show.
  4. Click on Password.
  5. Check Show password.
