Disk space

No matter what is the file system, you will notice that we measure the place that takes a document or the available space left on a device with the same unit of measurement, megabytes (MB) or gigabytes (GB). To decipher this strange unit of measurement, see the following equivalence.

1 terra-bytes = 1 000 giga-bytes = 1 000 000 mega-bytes =
1 000 000 000 kilo-bytes = 1 000 000 000 000 bytes

That's as simple as that! To give you an idea of proportions, here are a few examples of the average and general size of certain types of files or devices.

A text document : 400 Ko
A music : 3 Mo
A Youtube video : 80 Mo
A DVD movie : 4,5 Go

A camera card : 4Go
A USB stick : 8 Go
An external hard drive : 500 Go
